VP, PR & Marketing at lotus823
PRSA NJ Member Since July 2020

How did you get into the field of PR?
I knew quite early I wanted to be in PR in some way, so I majored in Public Relations at University of Rhode Island, and pursued a career in PR/marketing roles ever since. To start, I worked on
community relations at a college in Alaska, which strengthened my communications skills. But, I knew the digital aspects of PR and marketing were growing rapidly, so I took on roles that included content writing, social media, SEO, traditional PR and influencer relations upon moving back to NJ.

This combination of experience has really opened my eyes to how large the PR umbrella can be, and how blurred the lines between marketing and PR have become of late.

What do you love most about PR?
The creativity needed for the role. Creativity in writing. Creativity in marketing campaigns. Creativity in keeping brands/products relevant when there is nothing new launching. Creativity when it comes to solving problems in quick, resourceful ways. It’s a field that always keeps you thinking, and I love that.

What is one of your most valuable experiences in PR?
Not the most valuable, but by far the most fun experience was doing a client installment at the Betches Meme Gala in NYC a few years ago. That’s one thing I truly love about this field, sometimes you do get to mix business and pleasure!

What are some of your goals for the Comms Committee this year?
Successfully and effectively communicating all events/happenings to NJ members. There are so many fun ideas in the works for 2024, and I want to be sure everyone has a chance to take advantage of each networking or learning opportunity.

What is the value of being a member of PRSA NJ?
All of the wonderful people I’ve met through events and volunteering has been such a wonderful value add. Getting to bounce ideas off of peers or hearing how they’re dealing with certain aspects of the jobs, whether it be the ever-changing social media landscape, or a crisis communications issue, or well, anything really, has been such an invaluable learning experience.
