PRSA NJ Member Spotlight: Marc Gerrone

The PRSA NJ member spotlight recognizes and helps us get to know our fellow chapter members. Each month, we randomly select a PRSA NJ member or members to highlight. This month, we are featuring Marc Gerrone who joined PRSA NJ nearly 25 years ago – in July 1997! You will get to learn more about March below and find out why membership in PRSA NJ is important to him.

Marc Gerrone, CAE

Senior Director, Communications and PR, Company/Organization: IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants)

PRSA NJ member since 1997

How did you get into the field of PR? Early in my studies at Rutgers, I took “Intro to PR” and realized the field was a good fit for me. PR is about building relationships, something that organizations will always need. I learned to analyze a situation, recommend the best course of action, and communicate with the right audiences. I got started by doing an internship at an agency, which became my first job. I eventually landed a position in-house, where I’ve been for the past 16 years.

What do you love most about PR? I work at a not-for-profit professional association that has a mission and vision. We support the management accounting profession and those who work in the field. The work I do helps support people’s careers, the organizations where they work, and societies overall. When you work in PR, you can help serve a greater purpose.

What is the value of being a member of PRSA NJ? Meeting and networking with PR professionals who do similar (or different) work is a valuable learning experience. The local chapter helps people stay connected, share ideas, and make connections with potential vendors, freelancers, or future co-workers.

THANK YOU Marc for being a long-time valued member of PRSA NJ and to all of our members for helping to make our chapter an outstanding one!
